ประเพณีบุญสารทเดือนสิบ


ประจำปี 2557 จังหวัดนครศรีธรรมราช ระหว่างวันที่ 17-26 กันยายน 2557 ณ สวนสมเด็จศรีนครินทร์ (ทุ่งท่าลาด) อำเภอเมืองนครศรีธรรมราช
 
   ประเพณีสารทเดือนสิบเป็นประเพณีของคนภาคใต้ โดยเฉพาะชาวจังหวัดนครศรีธรรมราชได้รับอิทธิพลมาจากศาสนาพราหมณ์โดยมีการผสมผสานความเชื่อทางพุทธศาสนาเข้ามาภายหลัง โดยมีจุดมุ่งหมายสำคัญเพื่อเป็นการอุทิศส่วนกุศลให้แก่ดวงวิญญาณของบรรพชนและญาติที่ล่วงลับไปแล้วซึ่งได้รับการปล่อยตัวจากนรกที่ตนจองจำอยู่ เนื่องจากมีผลกรรมที่ตนได้ทำไว้ตอนยังมีชีวิตอยู่ โดยจะเริ่มปล่อยตัวจากนรกในทุกวันแรม 1 ค่ำ เดือน 10 เพื่อมายังโลกมนุษย์ โดยมีจุดประสงค์เพื่อมาขอส่วนบุญจากลูกหลานที่ได้เตรียมการอุทิศไว้ให้เป็นการแสดงความกตัญญูกตเวทีต่อผู้ที่ล่วงลับหลังจากนั้นก็กลับไปยังโลกมนุษย์ในวัน แรม 15 ค่ำ เดือน 10

           ขนมที่สำคัญในประเพณีบุญสารทเดือนสิบ
1.  ขนมพอง ใช้แทนแพ
2.  ขนมลา    ใช้แทนเครื่องนุ่งห่ม
3.  ขนมกงหรือขนมไข่ปลา   ใช้แทนเครื่องประดับ
4.  ขนมดีซำ ใช้แทนเบี้ยหรือเงิน
5.  ขนมบ้า    ใช้แทนสะบ้าไว้เล่น
